What is the AtoM User Forum?
The AtoM User Forum is the main place where users come to meet and talk with the AtoM community. There has been a vibrant community discussion going on for many years.
Who can post in the forum?
Anyone is welcome to join, but registration is required to post in the AtoM User Forum. All you need is an email address, a google account, and an interest in AtoM. The forum is open to both amateurs and experts; archivists, system administrators, and developers - and more!

How can I register for the AtoM Forum?
Because we are using the freely provided forums hosted by Google, you will need a Google account if you don't already have one. First, navigate to the AtoM user forum:
If you are not currently logged into your Google account, you will see a sign-in option at the top of the page:
Click this button - the next page will give you the options to either sign in to an existing account, or create a new account if you don't have one. Sign in or create an account, and follow the prompts
Tip
Did you know? You can create a Google account with an existing email address, even if it's not a Gmail address. For all general information on creating a google account, see Google's resources:
When you next return to the AtoM User Forum and are logged into your Google account, you will now see a button next to the forum name:
Click the button, and a pop-up will appear. Please provide a display name for your forum posts, configure your preferred subscription message delivery, and provide a reason for joining.
Important
You MUST provide a reason for joining so we know you are not a bot - if you are unsure what to write, you can write "Access to Memory" in the field.
Your request will be submitted to the forum maintainers for review. Please be patient as we review requests!
Once your request has been approved, your posts will also be moderated at first - meaning there will be a delay between when you post and when the post is delivered to other members and visible in the web forum. This is done to prevent spam and automated bot posts.
If you have any issues, and/or you feel that your request has been rejected in error, feel free to contact us at info@artefactual.com, and we will investigate!
Why isn't my post showing up in the forum?
Are you a new member who has joined the AtoM User Forum recently? If so, your posts will be moderated at first, to prevent spam from being sent to all our members accidentally. We apologize for the inconvenience! Odds are good that your post will be visible soon, once it has been reviewed by our moderators. If we reject your post, you will receive a message - otherwise, it's still in the queue
If you have any issues, or it's been a very long time, and/or you feel that your request has been rejected in error, feel free to contact us at info@artefactual.com, and we will investigate!
What is the user forum for?
The forum is for members of the AtoM community to meet and talk. Share success stories, strategies, resources, workarounds for known issues, and thoughts related AtoM and the cultural memory community. Let others know about AtoM-related events in your area; help spread the word about a new AtoM site; make plans to connect with other AtoM users at upcoming conferences and events; talk about your ideal workflow and how you use AtoM. The forum is only as interesting as you help to make it!
What is Artefactual's policy on technical support in the forum?
Artefactual staff do not provide technical support in the AtoM user forum. Technical issues can be posted in the forum, and other community members may be able to provide help. Artefactual offers technical support for AtoM as part of our commercial services. Please see our website for more detail on the services we offer.
Before posting a request for technical support, try searching the AtoM User Forum for previous posts that may answer your question. We also encourage you take a look at the AtoM documentation.

Our Pledge
In the interest of fostering an open and welcoming environment, we as contributors and maintainers pledge to making participation in our project and our community a harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of age, body size, disability, ethnicity, gender identity and expression, level of experience, nationality, personal appearance, race, religion, or sexual identity and orientation.
Our Standards
Examples of behavior that contributes to creating a positive environment include:
- Using welcoming and inclusive language
- Being respectful of differing viewpoints and experiences
- Gracefully accepting constructive criticism
- Focusing on what is best for the community
- Showing empathy towards other community members
Examples of unacceptable behavior by participants include:
- The use of sexualized language or imagery and unwelcome sexual attention or advances
- Trolling, insulting/derogatory comments, and personal or political attacks
- Public or private harassment
- Publishing others' private information, such as a physical or electronic address, without explicit permission
- Other conduct which could reasonably be considered inappropriate in a professional setting
Our Responsibilities
Project maintainers are responsible for clarifying the standards of acceptable behavior and are expected to take appropriate and fair corrective action in response to any instances of unacceptable behavior.
Project maintainers have the right and responsibility to remove, edit, or reject comments, commits, code, wiki edits, issues, Forum posts, and other contributions that are not aligned to this Code of Conduct, or to ban temporarily or permanently any contributor for other behaviors that they deem inappropriate, threatening, offensive, or harmful.
Scope
This Code of Conduct applies both within project spaces, such as the AtoM User Forum, and in public spaces when an individual is representing the project or its community. Examples of representing a project or community include using an official project e-mail address, posting via an official social media account, or acting as an appointed representative at an online or offline event. Representation of a project may be further defined and clarified by project maintainers.
Enforcement
Instances of abusive, harassing, or otherwise unacceptable behavior may be reported by contacting the project team at info@artefactual.com. The project team will review and investigate all complaints, and will respond in a way that it deems appropriate to the circumstances. The project team is obligated to maintain confidentiality with regard to the reporter of an incident. Further details of specific enforcement policies may be posted separately.
AtoM user forum participants who do not follow or enforce the Code of Conduct in good faith may face temporary or permanent repercussions as determined by members of the project's leadership.
Tagging your support post
We have enabled topical tagging in the user forum to help with searching and browsing. If you wish, you can tag your post with keywords - the forum administrators may also add or remove tags later on as we see fit. For more information about what each tag refers to, see User forum tags.
