I am Archivist and Taylor Librarian at Shrewsbury School (UK). The school was founded in 1552 by King Edward VI; the Library dates from 1598 and the Archives go back nearly to the founding of the school. A famous Taylor Librarian of 100 years ago said, 'The School is fortunate to have inhereited a Library now of international impoortance'.

I have just returned from the AtoM camp at St John's College, Cambridge, where I learned a huge amount about AtoM. In June we are about to embark upon a massive refurbishment of the School Library and part of this will involve creating a state-of-the-art Archhives facility.

The Archives contain letters and memorabilia of Charles Darwin, an alumnus. Also many other famous alumni, and a host of other records of great interest, one of which is the oldest known copy of the rules of football - known as the Cambridge Rules of 1856.

Our aim is to create a catalogue for both the Archives and the Taylor Library Rare Book Collections using AtoM. This means climbing a steep learning curve, but follwoing the AtoM camp I feel I have negotiated some difficult terrain aready and am excited about the adventure/journey ahead.

Previously I have been Principal of Edwardes College, Peshawar, and Principal of the University of Toronto Schools, Ontario.
